Peace on Pumpkin: Growing Lebanon’s Heritage, Art, and Sustainability
At Gharset Kheir, we believe in the power of nature, art, and sustainability to bring about positive change. Our “Peace on Pumpkin” initiative is a testament to this belief, blending the beauty of Lebanese heirloom pumpkin seeds with the message of peace and environmental responsibility.
This special event brought together local artists, actors, and community members to create stunning pumpkin artwork, each piece symbolizing unity, hope, and the spirit of peace. But beyond the art, this event holds a deeper mission: to celebrate and collect Lebanon’s heirloom pumpkin seeds.
Currently, there are more than 5 unique varieties of Lebanese pumpkin seeds, many of which are at risk of disappearing. Through “Peace on Pumpkin,” we aim to raise awareness and work towards increasing the number and availability of these valuable seeds, helping to preserve Lebanon’s agricultural heritage for future generations.
By combining the power of art, sustainability, and the preservation of native seeds, we are not just advocating for environmental responsibility—we are also fostering peace. As pumpkins grow from small seeds into nourishing crops, we believe that the spirit of peace and sustainability can grow in our communities, too.
